Based in Leicestershire, Tim has worked as a professional artist since 2000 and is a regular contributor to the Leisure Painter and other painting magazines. He has won many prizes with his art, and has held one-man exhibitions at the Barbican Centre, London. As a consummate draftsman, Tim likes to term his paintings ‘loosely accurate’. He works in a variety of media, choosing the type of paint that best fits his vision for the finished artwork.
The course is made up of one-day workshops, so you can enrol for one, several or the whole week. All workshops run from 9.30am-4.30pm with a one-hour break for lunch.
Timeless Textures in Ink and Watercolour (Mon 9 Aug)
Join Tim for an exciting and fun day exploring his unique approach to creating textural paintings using ink and watercolour. During this session, we explore techniques that allow us to portray different effects in watercolour. The day is divided between a series of practical exercises and step-by-step demonstrations by Tim.
Watercolour Landscape Secrets (Tues 10 Aug)
Many artists struggle for years because they fail to understand a few basic secrets that help to produce more successful watercolours. Let Tim explain some underlying methods that can’t be found in books, which will allow you to paint with more confidence. During the day we will look at ways of producing clean, bright and fluid watercolours. Also, we will explore specific brush and paint techniques for portraying landscape elements.
Learn to Paint Acrylics (Wed 11 Aug)
Fed up with your watercolours? Use this day to give your inspiration a boost! Acrylics are not just an accepted watercolour medium, but offer the artist a wide range of choices of how they paint. It is no surprise that Acrylics are fast becoming the most popular choice of UK artists. Explore different ways of working with acrylics to find the choice for you. The day will break down into step-by-step demonstrations by Tim followed by practical exercises, plus numerous hints and tips with quick and simple suggestions to try.
Coastal Landscapes in Acrylics (Thurs 12 Aug)
Had enough of smelly oil paints? Coastal landscape acrylics is a of day painting subjects in a heavy body style in a similar manner to oil painting but without the slow drying times and smell! Tim has worked in acrylics and written articles about them for many years and has a wealth of experience to pass on to you.
Paint Impressionist Pastels (Fri 13 Aug)
This is a day dedicated to those who wish to loosen up, are stuck in a rut or just want to try out a different medium. Tim is a renowned pastel artist and sympathetic tutor, who over the years has refined his technique to generate a looser and more colourful pastel style.
