Start Workshops are the UK's largest independent arts educator, having delivered art experiences to more than 20,000 children. The workshops have been developed to give the participants a unique hands-on approach to creative learning and are run by fully trained, qualified teachers with years of experience of running art workshops. Each workshop can be booked as a one-off or as part of a series.

Easter Workshops

Four days of Art and Craft collage and papier maché fun. Create picture frames and bag charms out of junk, make a papier maché vase or bowl, design unique tissue paper stained glass windows and cards, or make a Mod Roc animals and ‘Masked Ball’ masks. Children will have loads of fun, learn plenty of new skill and have lots of items to take home and use.

Summer Workshops

A week of artistic fun, exploring different materials and techniques every day. There will be the opportunity to create sculpture out of Mod Roc, wire, clay and found materials and produce amazing giant abstract paintings and chalk pictures outside. Try different print techniques, such as silkscreen printing and poly board printing to create a one-off design for a T-shirt, along with weaving and papermaking. A great chance to explore different techniques and create lots of fantastic works of art to take home, use and display.

Mon 9 & Tues 10 Aug (two-day workshop) - Exploring the Figure, using different methods including shadow drawings, figurative sculptures with elongated arms and legs (inspired by Giacometti) using wire, string, Mod Roc and clay and large scale abstract collaged paintings of body parts.
Wed 11 Aug - Printing: Poly board printing, silkscreen printing and low relief printing of sun flowers.
Thurs 12 Aug - Recycled Art: papermaking and organic sculptures.
Fri 13 Aug - Weaving with a Difference; create weavings out of photos, maps, rubbings and natural materials found around the schools grounds.
